China Open: Paolini comes from behind to reach third round
Italian Jasmine Paolini, the No 3 seed, advanced to the third round of the China Open by edging out Dane Clara Tauson 1-6, 7-5, 6-4 at the National Tennis Center in Beijing on Saturday.
Tauson surprised Paolini by taking the opener quickly with three break-point conversions, however, the Italian fought back to take the following two sets.
Paolini, ranked No 5, will play the winner of the match between Japanese Moyuka Uchijima and Pole Magda Linette, the No 31 seed, next.
Tauson, ranked No 72, won against Harriet Dart (5-7, 6-4, 6-1) in the previous round of the Beijing tournament.
