Here at the Chiefs’ inactive players for today’s game against the Steelers — pass rusher Chris Jones (calf), safety Chamarri Conner (concussion protocol), left tackle D.J. Humphries (left hamstring), rookie guard C.J. Hanson, rookie right tackle Ethan Driskell and defensive ends Malik Herring and Joshua Uche.
This will be the first time this season the Chiefs will be without Jones, their best defensive player. If the Chiefs played on a normal schedule — instead of a third game in 11 days — perhaps Jones would’ve had enough rest and treatment to be in uniform.
Also, the Chiefs will once again rely on Joe Thuney, the All-Pro left guard, at left tackle in place of Humphries. In the past two games, Thuney hasn’t surrendered a sack.
