A trifecta of New York City sports clubs — Mets, Yankees and Liberty — are beginning simultaneous postseason championship drives.
It’s another magical time for Big Apple sports fans and everyday New Yorkers to come together in support of our hometown heroes.
The three-team run are welcome distractions from our divisive national politics, the swirl of scandal surrounding City Hall and a potentially crippling dockworkers strike.
On Saturday, slugger Aaron Judge and the Yankees, the American League’s top-seed, will face the winner of the AL wild-card series between the Orioles and Royals.
The Bronx Bombers finished with the best record in the AL — Judge pounded a league-best 58 homers — giving them home-field advantage through the playoffs.
The Mets, meanwhile, notched a wild-card berth on Monday and to begin their journey to the World Series.
Their MVP candidate Francisco Lindor’s sensational go-ahead, two-run home run on Monday in Atlanta powered the “Amazins” into the postseason.
And the New York Liberty, led by All-Stars Breanna Stewart, Sabrina Ionescu and Jonquel Jones, are looking to dethrone the defending WNBA champs, the Las Vegas Aces, in a best-of-five series.
The Gotham hoopsters boasted the league’s best win-loss record.
Our hometown teams need to keep it up on their roads to their respective 2024 championships.
Keep the joy coming! Keep hope alive!
Think: World Series subway series.
Go, New York!
