Charlotte may not be typically known as one of the nation’s highest-paying metros, but there are four jobs where it pays to be employed here.
The Queen City is among the five highest-paying cities for these four jobs: actuary, biochemist, oral and maxillofacial surgeon and taxi driver, according to U.S. News & World Report.

Durham-Chapel Hill, like Charlotte, had four professions that ranked among the top five for best pay.
Elsewhere in the Carolinas, Wilmington had two jobs that offered some of the nation’s highest pay, while Raleigh, Florence and Greenville, South Carolina, each had one.
