The second match of the TGL’s inaugural season provided golf fans with high levels of intensity and entertainment.
TGL is a new team golf league where opposing teams go head-to-head in a match that is split between a large simulator and a unique green that adjusts to match the exact placement of the ball in the simulator for short shots.
It was Jupiter Links Golf Club vs. Los Angeles Links Golf Club in Tuesday’s head-to-head matchup. Tiger Woods, Kevin Kisner, and Max Homa suited up for Jupiter Links, while Tom Kim remained inactive. Over at Los Angeles Golf Club, Collin Morikawa joined forces with Justin Rose and Sahith Theegala, as Tommy Fleetwood sat out the opener.
Jupiter Links Golf Club, applied pressure to Los Angeles Golf Club when they threw the hammer (a game modifier that increases the hole value by one point) ahead of playing the first hole. The energy was high through the remainder of the match as both teams jawed at each other and even called timeout in an attempt to ice opposing players.
Despite Jupiter Links’ attempts to mount pressure, they were ultimately unsuccessful against the commanding Los Angeles performance. Los Angeles dominated the made-for-TV team match against Jupiter Links, securing a decisive 12-1 victory. The 15-hole competition consisted of nine holes of alternate shot triples, followed by six holes of singles play where each team member played two holes.
Homa later took to social media to acknowledge his team’s struggles with a lighthearted post.
Apologies to all simulators worldwide. We failed u tonight
