Charles Town and Louisiana Downs joined the list of tracks that canceled their Thursday cards because of cold weather.
Turfway Park and Mahoning Valley announced previously that their Thursday cards would be canceled. Oaklawn moved its Friday card to Saturday, its Saturday card to Sunday and its Sunday card to Monday
Charles Town said in a news release that it would resume racing Friday at its usual post time of 7 p.m. EST. The National Weather Service forecast for the West Virginia track called for a blustery day Thursday with snow showers and a high temperature of 27. The low Thursday night was forecast at 18. Friday’s forecast called for a high of 35 and a low of 17.
The forecast for Bossier City, La., home to Louisiana Downs, called for a sunny day with a high temperature of 37 with a low Thursday night around 20. Racing is scheduled to resume Friday with a first-race post time of 2:07 p.m. EST.
