Charles Town canceled its Wednesday and Thursday cards because of cold weather in the forecast.
The National Weather Service forecast for the West Virginia track area called for a mostly sunny day Wednesday, with a high temperature around 28 degrees. A northwest wind of 15 to 17 mph was expected, with gusts as high as 23 degrees. The Wednesday night low was forecast at 15 degrees.
The NWS predicted Thursday will be sunny, with a high near 28 and wind-chill values as low as -1. It is expected to be blustery, with a northwest wind of 16 to 24 mph and gusts as high as 34 mph. Thursday night was expected to remain windy, with a low of be about 14 degrees
The first post for Wednesday and Thursday was 7 p.m. EST. Charles Town said in an X post that racing is expected to resume Friday night, when snow is in the forecast with a low of 22 degrees.
