LORIS, SC (WMBF) – A certified travel agent is offering advice following a WMBF News investigation into three Grand Strand women’s vacation nightmares.
Loris resident and Destinations 24/7 Travel Services owner Scott Faust has more than 30 years of experience booking thousands of trips.
However, he said after our story about several people losing hundreds of dollars booking the same travel agent aired, some of his clients even got worried.
“I had gotten a few phone calls for some price quotes, and they had backed out because they had seen the story,” Faust said. “So, I had to assure them I am a legit travel agent.”
To help ease their minds and other travelers hoping to use a travel agent in the future, Faust shared these tips:
Faust also said it’s important to check where your money is going from your bank statements.
“When we charge your credit card, make sure it’s with the supplier that we use and not the travel agency we belong to or own,” Faust said. “For us, the supplier we use is typically SouthWest Airlines or Pleasant Holidays, so you want it to say that on your bank statement. That way, you know the money is actually going towards your trip and not somebody’s personal pocket.”
Scott said there are several benefits to booking a travel agent, including someone to take care of any issues that may arise, along with tips, tricks and recommendations for your trip.
