LINCOLN, Neb. (KSNB) – Central City traveled to Lincoln to compete in its first-ever NSAA state football championship game on Tuesday at Memorial Stadium. The No. 5 Bison took on third-ranked Wahoo, who finished as 2023 state runner-up, for the title.

The Warriors recorded seven interceptions in a dominant 47-7 win over the Bison. Noah Bordovsky and Logan Kelly each had two interceptions, as Wahoo’s defense turned a two-possession second-half margin into a blowout victory. Bordovsky finished with seven tackles, along with a pair of touchdown passes, to help the Warriors claim the school’s second state championship.

Offensively, the Warriors were paced by junior running back Kip Brigham. He rushed for 133 yards on 24 carries with two scores. Meanwhile, quarterback Jase Kaminski completed 7-of-11 pass attempts for 11 yards. For Central City, Parker Zikmund completed 10-of-29 passes for 172 yards and a touchdown, but he also threw seven interceptions.

Wahoo led 14-0 at halftime and remained in control down the stretch at Memorial Stadium. However, the Bison seized some momentum in the third quarter when Turner Hanke scored on an 87-yard pass from Zikmund. Wahoo answered with a 7-play, 52-yard drive capped by a touchdown pass from Kaminski to Kaden Christen. The Warriors then scored on their next three possessions to secure the win.

Wahoo concludes the season with a 13-0 record and avenges last year’s loss in the state finals to Boone Central. The Bison end at 11-2 and as state runner-up.
