With Donte DiVincenzo questionable in this back-to-back for the Minnesota Timberwolves, expect Anthony Edwards’ stat lines to take it up a notch as he aims to lead his team over the visiting Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Cavaliers have dropped two of three, and they’ll look to add to their NBA-best win total tonight with a road trip to face the Timberwolves.
My Cavaliers vs. Timberwolves predictions expect Anthony Edwards to post strong numbers as he leads his team against Cleveland .

My best bet
Anthony Edwards Over 37.5 points, rebounds, and assists (-120 at bet365)
My analysis
Anthony Edwards is enjoying the most productive statistical season of his career, averaging 26.1 points, 5.9 rebounds and 4.2 assists, good for 36.2 PRAs. He’s been particularly productive across his last eight games, averaging 32.9 points, 7.1 rebounds and 5.3 assists. In that span, Ant-Man has hit the Over on this line six times.
Edwards has averaged 38.4 PRAs on the road compared to just 34.7 at home, but he’s compiled at least 38 PRAs in two of his last three at Target Center. That includes 38 PRAs against the Warriors and 52 against the Clippers.
Over his last eight, Edwards leads the Minnesota Timberwolves comfortably in scoring. His 32.9 points are more than double those of the second-leading scorer, Donte DiVincenzo. DiVincenzo, Naz Reid and Julius Randle have all averaged just a hair under 16 points in that span. Edwards also leads the team in assists and is second in boards over the last eight. He is fifth in the NBA in Usage Rate at 34.1 during his eight-game heater.
DiVincenzo has been huge for Minnesota since joining the starting five, averaging 17.5 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.7 assists across his last six. DiVincenzo sat out Friday due to a toe injury and is questionable to take the court for the second leg of Minnesota’s back-to-back set. If he’s unavailable, Edwards could handle an even heftier load as a scorer, rebounder and playmaker.
Cleveland Cavaliers’ defensive rating is 10th on the season overall at 111.2, but across the last 10 games, that rating has fallen to 21st (120.4). Over the last five, Cleveland’s defensive rating is 28th at 120.9. This is not a scary matchup for Edwards, and I expect this to be a high-scoring game between the best team in the East and a Western Conference contender.
Expect Edwards to do it all for his team tonight as the Wolves look for a win over the visiting NBA powerhouse.
On the season, Cleveland has gone 13-5 to the Over on the road and 11-3 to the Over as the road favorite. Minnesota is 10-9 to the Over as the home team, and the Wolves hit the Over in their only game as home dogs. Cleveland sports the top offensive rating in the NBA this season at 120.9. Minnesota ranks 15th at 112.2 on the season overall, but the Wolves rank fourth at 121.6 across the last five.
Cleveland’s defensive rating is 28th across the last five games, and the Cavs have allowed the second-most points in that span at 121.4. This should be a high-scoring game, and I’ll take the Over.
Despite losing two of its last three, Cleveland sports the best record in the NBA at 34-6. The Cavs are the best team ATS on the road with a 13-5 record. Their 10-4 mark as road favorite is also tops in the Association among teams who have played at least two games in that situation.
Minnesota’s 4-14-1 ATS mark at home is tied with the 76ers for worst in the Association. Cleveland is the better and more desperate team tonight, and I’ll back the Cavs to cover on the road once again.
