CARMEL, Ind. (WFIE) – The IHSAA girls golf state tournament was held this weekend, up at Prairie View Golf Club, at Carmel, and one local girl played very well!
Castle’s Ashley Kirkland, finished in second place, so she is the IHSAA Girls Golf State Runner-up!
On Friday, she carded a 5-over, 77, to sit in 5th place, but she saved her best for round two.
On Saturday, the Castle senior shot a 3-under par, 69, which was the low round of the day, and for the entire tournament, and that vaulted her into a second place finish!
Kirkland was also named the Mental Attitude Award recipient for IHSAA Girls Golf, so it was quite the weekend for her!
As a team, Castle finished in 9th place.
Memorial’s team was also at state, and they finished in 18th place. Abby Shires was the low shooter for the Lady Tigers, with a two-day total of +27. Her Tiger teammate, Emi Hoagland, shot +41 for the tourney.
Individually, Gibson Southern’s Haley Hughes finished tied for 34th, at +21, for the two days.
Also playing as an individual without a team, was North Posey’s Mackenzie Mills, and she shot +52, this weekend.
