Carson Steele made his first NFL start on Sunday against the Falcons, but it wasn’t the only major family moment going on for the Steele clan.
While the Chiefs running back was on the field, his older sister, Kesslar, was getting married in Indiana.
In a bizarre twist of fate, Steele ended up making his first NFL start on the same days she tied the knot, turning the wedding reception into a big watch party.
While the Steele siblings weren’t at each other’s big days, they were clearly there in spirit — and Kesslar even sent a video to the NBC “Sunday Night Football” broadcast showing the wedding reception guests tuned in for the running back’s big moment.
“Kesslar and her now husband Jack just sent us this video from their wedding reception taking place as we speak watching Carson make his first-ever NFL start,” NBC’s Melissa Stark reported. “It wasn’t great timing. Today was the only day the venue was available. His sister sent out a save the date over a year ago and Carson was supposed to be a groomsman. But luckily they have the big screen, he’s there in spirit.”
To cap off the special day for the Steele family, the Chiefs came away with a 22-17 win over the Falcons and the running back finished with 17 carries for 72 yards.
The Chiefs appearing on “Sunday Night Football” on NBC meant another cameo from Steele’s pet alligator, Crocky J.
The NBC broadcast showed a picture of Crocky-J wearing a white Chiefs hat.
The pet alligator became known to football fans during the opening night game between the Ravens and Chiefs in Week 1.
Kesslar had actually been gator sitting for her brother during the Week 1 game when Crocky-J stole the hearts of football fans.
In an interview with the Indianapolis Star, Kesslar told the the outlet that watching Crocky-J was a task “I always get.”
“It’s pretty easy,” Kesslar said. “He’s a pretty docile alligator. I just probably don’t spend as much time with him as Carson does. But I don’t mind taking care of him.”

If there's one takeaway from the first three weeks of the 2024 NFL season, it's that the mantra "on any given Sunday" could not be more true. Sam D
