Carlos Alcaraz will be expected to achieve big things in his tennis career.
The Spaniard is already the youngest player to tick off a major title on every surface in professional tennis and the ceiling is so high for Alcaraz.
Alcaraz has named the tournament he desperately wants to win in 2025 and he hopes to get himself recognised as someone who has won all four majors.
Alcaraz will become the youngest player to win all four majors if he can win the Australian Open and he actually has three chances to achieve that feat.
The 21-year-old has made a change to his coaching team going into the year and he will hope to start with a bang in Melbourne when the tennis calendar kicks into full swing.
Alcaraz looks set for an amazing career and when he finishes he could be considered one of the all-time greats if things go according to plan.
This is quite something but although he’s only just getting started, Alcaraz has predicted when things might finish for him.
Speaking to magician Daniel Fernandez on Instagram, Alcaraz was asked to pick when he would retire from tennis.
He said: “The year? Alright, it’s 2024 and I’m 21, 2037? Thirty-four, yes that’s the last one. The true greats play a long time, I want to reach that peak.”
He also shared that the last slam he wants to win would be at Wimbledon and with two titles already it feels like he’s got quite an affinity to the All England Club.
Alcaraz produced a breathtaking display to beat Novak Djokovic at Wimbledon in 2024 and Roger Federer might already be worrying about the Spaniard pipping him when it comes to crowns at that tournament.
Nadal won 22 Grand Slam titles during his career, with 14 of those actually coming at the French Open with the King of the Clay relishing Roland Garros.
Alcaraz has four major titles to his name already and given that he wants to play for another 13 years, it seems likely that he could emulate Nadal’s tally of major titles.
The one thing that Alcaraz might have in his favour in terms of toppling Nadal is that the competition for the new kid on the block won’t be quite as ferocious.
Nadal had to compete with Federer and Djokovic in his pomp, with Andy Murray thrown into the mix for good measure.
Alcaraz is well on track to complete an astonishing number of Grand Slam titles and it will be fascinating to see if this does come to fruition in 2037.
