Former Iowa women’s basketball star Caitlin Clark is at the Knapp Center in Des Moines today to watch the Hawkeyes’ game vs. Drake.
Former Iowa coach Lisa Bluder and former Drake coach Jennie Baranczyk also are in attendance. Bluder also coached at Drake before moving to Iowa City. Current Iowa head coach Jan Jensen played and coached at Drake. The Bulldogs are celebrating 50 years of Drake women’s basketball today.
Clark, a West Des Moines native and former Dowling Catholic star, was a two-time national player of the year for the Hawkeyes. She recently finished her first season in the WNBA and was named Rookie of the Year and first-team All-WNBA.
Clark is the career scoring leader for Division I basketball. She led the Hawkeyes to back-to-back appearances in the national championship game.
Clark grew up attending Drake games at the Knapp Center. She committed to Iowa in 2019 and became the biggest star in women’s basketball.
