Butler University will launch an online master’s degree in sports management this fall, the university announced Jan. 29.
The new master’s of science program will prepare students to work in a variety of roles across athletics, including college, professional and amateur sports. It’ll be centered around Indianapolis sports industries, from IndyCar to USA Gymnastics.
Targeted to working adults, the program will offer internships, networking and mentors in the industry.
The program will consist of 10 classes: six required courses in topics such as leadership, ethics and communication and four electives, where students can study topics such as fundraising and facility operations.
Classes will be asynchronous, meaning lectures are recorded and students can complete them on their own time. Students also will be able to virtually meet with professors and mentors.
The inaugural class of students will start in August. You can apply online now and the application deadline is Aug. 1.
