WARMINSTER, PA —It started with a life celebration in Bucks County, the place Brian Hiltebeitel once called home.
In mid-December, friends of the 65-year-old former township resident gathered as Hiltebeitel’s daughters held a Life Celebration for their father, who was killed using his own golf clubs during what authorities called a “random act of violence” at the Sandhill Crane Golf Club, a city-owned course in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, in late November.
That celebration took place at the McGhee-Givnish Funeral Home in Southampton and was followed by a luncheon at the Churchville Inn.
“They’re gonna need a bigger boat for this party,” Hiltebeitel’s girlfriend Dina Lauro posted on Facebook just before the event.
On Sunday, Lauro held her own life celebration of Hiltebeitel in Florida at the place where the couple worked and owned, Dina’s Vegan Deli & Desserts in Riviera Beach, Fla, in which friends gathered to remember him.
Patch was unable to reach Lauro for comment, but she told WPBF 25 News that the two met about 18 years ago, and were first neighbors before dating. They then moved to Florida to open the business, which featured vegan Philadelphia cheesesteaks.
“You felt his presence; he didn’t just sit there, you’d hear him laughing; he didn’t care how loud he laughed,” she said.
“Brian was pure, unfiltered joy. He had more friends than most and seemingly a million nicknames Bri, B, Bit, Dore, Pop, and more because you felt closer to him than a first name could allow,” his obituary read. “Being around him made you feel like the world was something to be loved and everything was funny. It could all be lighter, brighter. Brian’s simple, joyful approach to life was infectious. Brian was someone who was quick with a laugh and a hug, always making those around him feel supported and loved.”
Hiltebeitel grew up in Hatboro, lived in neighboring towns Willow Grove, Warminster, and Doylestown, and most recently settled in West Palm Beach, Fla, according to his obituary.
He is survived by three daughters, his long-time girlfriend Lauro; and three grandchildren Kevin Joyner and Quinten and Cleo Hibbert.
Police said Junior Boucher, 36, of West Palm Beach, killed Hiltebeitel, using the golfer’s own golf clubs to attack him.
Witnesses told police that Boucher, who was naked, first hit Hiltebeitel with a golf club near the first hole and also heard Hiltebeitel yelling “he’s trying to kill me,” according to reports.
