The first game-worn jersey of Bronny James’ Los Angeles Lakers career sold for $38,400 in a Friday auction at Sotheby’s.
The son of Lakers star LeBron James wore the jersey during his Las Vegas Summer League debut on July 12.
James recorded eight points on 3-of-14 shooting, adding five rebounds and two steals in a 99-80 loss to the Houston Rockets.
The Lakers’ No. 55 pick was not the only 2024 lottery pick whose jersey was part of the Sotheby’s lot.
Houston Rockets No. 3 pick Reed Sheppard saw his jersey go for $15,600, while San Antonio Spurs No. 4 selection Stephon Castle’s jersey sold for $6,000.
A game-worn jersey from Atlanta Hawks No. 1 pick Zaccharie Rischacher sold for $3,360.
These numbers pale in comparison to the demand for Victor Wembanyama’s first NBA jerseys after he was selected by the Spurs the No. 1 pick of the 2023 draft.
Wembanyama’s Summer League debut jersey sold for $62,000, while a jersey worn during his regular-season debut set a record price of $762,000.
James’ first regular-season jersey is similarly likely to drive high demand as he prepares to become part of the first active father-son duo in NBA history.
