The Colston Loveland hype train continues rolling.
The Michigan tight end has been the most popular pick for the Denver Broncos in NFL mock drafts this spring, and that will likely remain the case in the coming weeks.
Colston (6-6, 248 pounds) met with the Broncos at the NFL combine earlier this week, the tight end prospect confirmed during his media availability on Thursday.
“We were just really chopping up film, talking ball, talking shop,” Loveland said, via DenverSports.com’s Andrew Mason. “I feel like it was a good meeting.”
Colston also noted that his favorite tight end to watch growing up was Jimmy Graham, who hauled in 392 receptions for 4,791 yards and 55 touchdowns in five seasons playing under Sean Payton with the New Orleans Saints.
NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein has compared Colston to Sam LaPorta, who made the Pro Bowl as a rookie after being picked by the Detroit Lions in the second round of the 2023 NFL draft.
Colston underwent shoulder surgery this offseason, but he is expected to be ready for contact in time for training camp this summer. He totaled 101 receptions for 1,231 yards and nine touchdowns in his final two years with the Wolverines.
Denver holds seven draft picks this year — including No. 20 overall in the first round — and tight end is one of the team’s key positions of need. Colston could certainly be in play when the Broncos go on the clock in April.
