Alabama football‘s College Football Playoff hopes are on life support.
The Crimson Tide still has a shot, albeit a small one, at making the 12-team playoff after the 24-3 loss to Oklahoma on Saturday. We’ll see where Alabama ranks in the committee’s latest projections Tuesday night.
But at this point, it doesn’t seem the Crimson Tide is destined to make the 12-team field. At least that’s how the latest bowl projections look.
Here’s where some outlets see Alabama (8-3. 4-3 SEC) playing in the postseason heading into the Iron Bowl.
Jerry Palm’s latest bowl projections bumped the Crimson Tide out of the CFP and into Orlando, facing Illinois on Dec. 31. That’s a Big Ten vs. SEC bowl. The Citrus Bowl will decade which SEC team it wants, and Alabama and South Carolina figure to be top of the list
Mark Schlabach also predicts Alabama will play its bowl game in Florida, just in a different city. Schlabach projects the Crimson Tide to play at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, facing Iowa.
Brad Crawford sees Alabama heading to the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl in Orlando as well, also facing Illinois. He had the Crimson Tide there before Alabama moved up into the CFP picture in recent weeks again.
Kyle Bonagura also sent Alabama to the Citrus Bowl at Camping World Stadium, facing Illinois. That’s the popular pick this week after Alabama’s loss to Oklahoma.
