Name: Chad Venning
Position: Forward/Center
Year: Graduate Student
Number: 32
Height: 6’9”
Hometown: Brooklyn, NY
Last Season: Venning transferred into Boston College this offseason after playing his previous two seasons for the St. Bonaventure Bonnies. In 2023-24, Venning led his team in scoring and was 2nd in rebounding for a Bonnies squad that went 20-13 and made its way to the third round of the A-10 tournament. He was an instrumental force in the paint, leading the entire A-10 in two-point field goal attempts as the Bonnies finished 2nd in the conference in adjusted offensive rating. So he’s been the focal point of a team for a while now, and should be ready to bring some veteran leadership to Boston College.
Season Outlook: BC is in desperate need of experience and scoring after their roster faced so much turnover, and Venning brings just that. Fans should expect him to be a big part of the BC offense, likely their starting center and one of their top scorers, especially excelling in the post. Unfortunately he’s a little undersized at 6’9”, so defense against bigger centers could be an issue this season, but he’s got the weight to throw around and anchor the defense.
