GREENSBORO, N.C. – Madison Borders shot a 1-under 71 and Abbey Bull added an Even-par 72 in the 2nd round to lead Marshall on Day One at the UNCG Collegiate, hosted by UNC Greensboro at Forest Oaks Country Club.
Borders’ round under par has her in sole possession of 14th place while Bull is currently tied for 17th entering Tuesday’s final round of action.
Borders was consistent throughout the day, finishing with six birdies on the day, including four in a 10-hole stretch to open her second round, which shot her up the leaderboard.
For Borders, the iron game was working on Monday as she went 3-under on the four par-3s in her second round, which boosted her into the top-20. She birdied the par-3 13th hole in both rounds on Monday.
Bull also notched six birdies in her 36 holes on Monday – three in each 18 – to stay in contention. Bull took advantage of the short par-4s on the course, notching three of her six birdies on par-4s under 345 yards, using her length to her advantage.
In addition to Borders and Bull, Marshall got a 1-under 71 from Emily McLatchey in the opening round to help the team’s cause. McLatchey had three birdies in a seven-hole stretch that helped her to the round under par.
Currently, Marshall is in fifth place in the tournament heading into the final day, which gets underway with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start on Tuesday.
