LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) – The day after Thanksgiving, also known as Black Friday, is a day when stores offer huge sales nationwide. Academy Sports + Outdoors in Lake Charles is one of those stores.
“We got that cold weather in the south, a lot of people are coming out and taking advantage of those fleece sales we have,” Academy Store Director Adam Penley said.
The National Retail Federation (NRF) estimates around 132 million people will be shopping on Black Friday. But Black Friday isn’t just for shoppers, as many employees wake up early to open these stores full of deals.
“I’m running on my third cup of coffee but it’s fun, this is fun for us. We really do enjoy seeing the community come out, a lot of these customers are happy, they are coming in with smiles. They just had Thanksgiving yesterday. It’s just a lovely day,” Penley said.
