Several Eastern District high school golfers and coaches were recently honored.
In Division I, Steubenville junior Christopher Elliott was the Golfer of the Year and Big Red head coach Scott Lane earned Coach of the Year. Elliott averaged 37.6.
In Division II, the St. Clairsville quartet of seniors Brodi Foster, Evan Fix, Andrew Abel and sophomore Mavrik Malin all were first-team honorees, as were Barnesville junior Brady Gallagher; Harrison Central senior Nash Roberts and Buckeye Local junior Kamden Kinyo. All averaged between 36 and 39.9.
The Red Devils’ Ryan Clifford was Coach of the Year.
Earning second team status were Martins Ferry junior Nolan Zambori; Buckeye Local senior Domenick Kempton; St. Clairsville senior Ethan Turner and Edison sophomore Cash Meadows. They all averaged between 40.4 and 42.
Honorable mention went to Buckeye Local senior Adam Blackwell; Martins Ferry sophomore Hunter Shutler; Buckeye Local senior Kalen Stang; Barnesville junior Graham Spence; and Barnesville senior Caden Sellers.
On the girls side, St. Clairsville junior Olivia Baker was first team in Division II, as was Edison freshman Kallie McKeegan; Harrison Central senior Kaily Banal; Martins Ferry senior Julia Hancock; and Barnesville sophomore Kennedy Little.
They all averaged between 38 and 44.65.
Edison senior Katie Phillips and sophomore Bella Evans were second-teamers, as was River senior Jamie Smith. They had averages between 46.75 and 49.9.
Honorable mention selections were Edison sophomore Gwen Stine; River juniors Ambie Grimes and Presley Kilburn and Monroe Central senior Abigail Kinney and junior Renee Williams.
Earning Phil Allen Academic All-Ohio honors on the boys side was Blackwell, Stang and Roberts in Division II. In Division III, Monroe Central’s trio of James Williams, Dylan Parden and Jacob Fogle and Frontier’s duo of Joel Vanwey and Briley Hupp were cited. On the girls side, Harrison Central’s Kaily Banal, Monroe Central’s Abigail Kinney, River’s Jamie Smith and Martins Ferry’s Julia Hancock, all in Division II.
