Columbus, OH. – The Wheeling University Women’s Golf team played the final 18 holes of the ODU Golf Championships on Tuesday afternoon. It was a day of bounce backs for the team, with two of the three Cardinals golfers dropping 10+ strokes off their score. It is a big confidence boost for the team as they continue their in-region schedule.
Leading the way for the Cardinals was freshman Brielle Milhoan, who was the Cardinals top golfer for the third time in four rounds this season. After shooting a 92 over the first 18 holes, Milhoan dropped 10 strokes off her score on day two, shooting an 82 to lead the Cardinals. After Bogeying on hole one, Milhoan would even put her score with her first birdie of the event on hole two. She added two more pars through the front nine and ended up finishing +5 after nine holes. As she went around the bend, she picked up three more pars, all coming in the first five holes of the back nine. She would end up shooting +7 on the back nine to round out a day two where she set a new PR over the final 18 holes.
The biggest day one to day two score drop came from Ella Keffer, who dropped 12 strokes off her score. She shot an 86 over the final 18 holes, picking up her first birdie of the tournament on hole four of the front nine. This front nine would be her top finish of the day, shooting +5, and she would add a +11 on the back nine to round out her day. The final golfer for the Cardinals was Nicole Lincicome, who after leading the Cardinals on day one, would finish tied for 82nd overall with a score of 92. It wrapped up a two-day score of 180 for the senior as she wrapped up tournament #2.
The Wheeling University Women’s Golf team returns to action on Monday, September 23rd, when they compete at the Ashland Eagle Invitational with tee time scheduled for 9 AM.
