Betty Rose Gingery, 97, of Tyrone, was received into the presence of our Lord on Wednesday. She was born in Altoona, a daughter of the late Harry G. and Rose Rosetta (Nolan) Hess.
She was married April 19, 1946, in Altoona to Elwood R. “Tex” Gingery, who died July 21, 1997.
Betty was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Heather Gingery, and was the last of her immediate family.
Surviving are a son, Elwood R. Gingery of North Jackson, Ohio; a daughter, Diane Reese and husband, Russell, of Tyrone; four grandchildren: Sherrie Gingery, Michelle Gingery (Lemons), Jennifer Reese and Rusty Reese; nine great-grandchildren: Frank Parkes, Katelynn Parkes (Camerer), Olivia Reese, Victoria Reese (Walk), Jillian Lemons, Audrey Lemons, Samatha Joki, Bre Joki and J J Joki; three great-great-grandchildren: Kendall Parkes, Nolan Parkes and Jeremiah Walk; a nephew, David Hess (Myra); and niece, Mary Johnson (George).
Betty retired from Gardners Candies in 1990, with previous employment at the Tyrone Daily Herald and Dr. Richard Stever Sr.
She was a former active member of the Red Hat Society, Prayer Shawl Ministry and attended Bible Study with the ladies at the Epworth Preserve.
Betty was a member of Tyrone Church of the Brethren.
She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, cards and crocheting. Betty loved her dog, Grace, and visits with her family to reminisce and enjoy their company.
Friends will be received from 3 until the 4 p.m. funeral service Sunday, Dec. 22, 2024, at Tyrone Church of the Brethren, with son-in-law, Russell Reese, officiating. The casket will be closed.
Interment will be at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Sinking Valley.
Arrangements are by Derman Funeral Home Inc., Tyrone.
