BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) – The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 38-year-old man in connection to a golf cart that was reported as stolen.
Joshua Steven Yates, 38, was arrested on a charge of receiving stolen goods of more than $2,000 but less than $10,000.
Deputies were called to a home on Hampton Drive in Sangaree Aug. 5 for a report of a stolen golf cart that was pinging at a residence down the street.
When deputies knocked on the door of the home that had a golf cart in its yard, a man, later identified as Yates, ran from the back door, sheriff’s office spokesperson Cpl. Carli Drayton said.
Deputies called in the Berkeley County Sheriff’s K-9 Unit, and K-9 Lalo found Yates in a different backyard.
They conducted a probable cause search and found a debit card and three other identification cards that didn’t belong to him.
Drayton said additional charges are possible.
