The Cincinnati Bengals host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Paycor Stadium for their first preseason game of the 2024 NFL season.
The Bengals are coming off a fourth-place finish in the AFC North in 2023 while the Buccaneers won the AFC South.
Bengals head coach Zac Taylor said during the week he expected healthy starters to play in the preseason, but hasn’t outlined a specific number of snaps or playing time for any players.
Buccaneers kicker Chase McLaughlin converted a 35-yard field goal to give Tampa Bay a 10-7 lead in the third quarter. The kick capped a 10-play, 53-yard drive that took up 5:47 of the game clock.
Bengals kicker Evan McPherson missed a 58-yard field goal just before halftime to keep the game tied. The kick was wide right.
Cornerback Josh Newton re-entered the game after being injured on the Buccaneers’ previous drive and intercepted Buccaneers quarterback Kyle Trask. The Bengals subsequently punted.
The Cincinnati Bengals‘ first-team offense, minus wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase, scored a touchdown on its first, and only, drive of the game. Quarterback Joe Burrow threw his first-ever preseason touchdown pass to wide receiver Tee Higgins. The Buccaneers answered two drives later with a touchdown of their own with a Bucky Irving touchdown run.
The Buccaneers second-string offense tied the game in the first quarter against the Cincinnati Bengals. Tampa’s eight-play, 77-yard drive was capped with a 5-yard touchdown run by Bucky Irving.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Cincinnati Bengals traded punts on the subsequent drives after Joe Burrow’s touchdown pass on the opening drive. The Buccaneers are on their own 23 yard line with 5:30 remaining in the first quarter.
Burrow went 5-7 for 50 yards and a touchdown pass to wide receiver Tee Higgins in the first drive of the 2024 NFL preseason against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The 12-play drive ends with the Bengals up 7-0 after kicker Evan McPherson converted the point-after-touchdown attempt.
Burrow’s first ever preseason completion went to wide receiver Tee Higgins for 9 yards. His second pass attempt to running back Chase Brown went for gain and Brown picked up the first down on third-and-1.
NFL teams do not submit injury reports for preseason games. The injury reports begin with regular season Week 1 and continue through the NFL playoffs. Injury reports are due by 4 p.m. on Fridays for Sunday games. Defensive end Cam Sample will miss the 2024 NFL season because of a torn Achilles tendon.
Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow showed up to the first preseason game against the Buccaneers in shorts and short-sleeved hoodie.

The Bengals (-250) are 6-point favorites (-110) over the Buccaneers and the over/under point total is set at 38, according to DraftKings.
The Bengals host the Buccaneers at Paycor Stadium tonight, then head to Chicago to play the Bears next Saturday and finish the preseason hosting the Indianapolis Colts on Aug. 22.
