ORLANDO, Fla. — Less than a week after their season-opening event in Arizona, Baylor women’s golf returns to action at the PDI Intercollegiate on Sunday at Eagle Creek Golf Club.
Head coach
Jay Goble, who started his college coaching career in the Sunshine State, looks forward to returning to this event for the first time in about a decade.
“We are excited to get back on the road and continue to knock off our winter rust,” he said. “We have not played in this event in about 10 years or so, but it looks to be a solid field, hosted by one of our fellow Big 12 institutions, so we’re looking forward to it.”
Silje Ohma will play at the No. 1 spot after an impressive even-par 72 at the Match in the Desert, earning a tie for fifth. The top-5 was her first in a Division I tournament since a tie for second at the 2023 Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge.
After missing last week’s event,
Sera Hasegawa makes her spring debut in the No. 2 spot. The program’s career stroke-average leader leads the team with six rounds at par or better, with all 11 of her rounds counting towards the team’s score this season. Goble is excited to see the senior hit her stride in her final few months of college golf.”
“Sera is back for her final semester at Baylor, and it will be nice to get her back competing,” he said. “We would love to send her off to her professional career with some nice trophies by May.”
Fellow senior
BaiMai Seema will play at No. 3, looking to get back on track after a solid fall for the green and gold. She enters this event 12
th in career-stroke average at Baylor, boasting a 74.37 mark in 67 career rounds.
Bridget Boczar aims to continue her steady play out of the no. 4 spot. The junior tied for the team lead with three birdies in the last round at Superstition Mountain.
Malena Castro will round out the lineup for a second straight week. The freshman, who has only been with the team a few weeks, started slow last round but finished strong, playing her final seven holes at 2-under par.
Jenny Lee will make her second start of the season as an individual, while
