Barcelona manager Hansi Flick offered an update on the fitness of both Ronald Araujo and Andreas Christensen on Friday.
The two defenders remain on the sidelines as they deal with injury issues that have meant the two players have basically not featured at all this season.
It emerged that Christensen has undergone surgery this week on his ongoing Achilles injury, but Flick played down the severity of the issue.
The German also said that Araujo should return to full training with the team after Saturday’s match against Celta Vigo.
“I cannot confirm when Christensen and Araujo will play. We have been told that the operation he had should be good. I think it was an important operation, but a small one,” he told reporteres.
“And Araujo will be with us on Sunday. He is not 100% fit for training, but we will be able to bring him in.”
It’s hoped that Araujo could make his first appearance of the season before the end of the year, while Christensen may not return until some time in early 2025.
