Jannik Sinner produced another strong showing in Melbourne as the No. 1 seed.

The Italian, who took down Holger Rune in four sets, has only dropped two sets through four rounds.

The reigning champion at both hard-court majors faces Australian Alex De Minaur in the quarterfinals.

De Minaur eliminated one of the two unseeded Americans left in the draw, Alex Michelsen, in straight sets on Monday.

De Minaur reached the quarterfinals at each of the last four Grand Slams, but he has not gotten past that stage.

Ben Shelton is in the final eight for the second time in three years in Australia. He has an easy quarterfinal matchup on paper against Lorenzo Sonego.

Sonego hadn’t made it past the fourth round at any major prior to the 2025 Australian Open.

The hope for Shelton is that he has a quick match against Sonego and that Sinner and De Minaur battle in four or five sets.

That would set the American up for his best shot to take down one of the top-10 seeds and land in the final.
