Paul – Machac: 09.10.2024 08:30 CEST
H2H: 0-1
Tommy Paul has won three of his last five matches. Last week in Tokyo, Paul lost his 1/8-Final match against Machac in three tight sets as we predicted. Here in Shanghai, Tommy defeated Fognini in straight sets. After that, in the third round, Paul won against Tabilo in three tight sets. Paul is hoping for a solid result this week to get closer to the top 10 in the rankings.
Tomas Machac has won four of his last five matches. Last week in Tokyo, Machac lost against Humbert in three tight sets as we predicted. Here in Shanghai, Machac won his opening match against Davidovich Fokina in three tight sets. After losing the first set 1-6, Machac stepped up his level, and turned the match around. In the third round of the tournament, Tomas defeated Vukic in easy straight sets.
According to the bookies, Paul is the favorite in this matchup. Machac started off this tournament slowly, but he gradually stepped up his level. In his last match, Machac played great tennis. On the other hand, Paul spent almost three hours on the court in his last match. We believe that he will be exhausted coming into this match.
That being said, Machac covering the games handicap is a value bet.

Sinner – Shelton: 09.10.2024 06:30 CEST
H2H: 3-1
Jannik Sinner has won four of his last five matches. Last week in Beijing, Jannik reached the final, where he lost against Alcaraz in three tight sets as we predicted. Here in Shanghai, Sinner dominated in his opening match against Daniel as we predicted. After that, in the third round, Jannik defeated Etcheverry in three sets. This has been the most successful season for the young Italian, who became just the fourth player to win two hardcourt Grand Slams in a single season. Last year in Shanghai, Sinner reached the third round, where he was upset by Shelton.
Ben Shelton has won four of his last five matches. Last week in Tokyo, Shelton reached the quarterfinals, where he lost against Fils, who ended up winning the tournament. Ben was the defending champion in Tokyo, but he could not defend it. Here in Shanghai, Ben defeated Shapovalov in his opening match in straight sets. Ben served well, not offering any breakpoints throughout the whole match. Today, in the third round, Ben defeated Carballes Baena in straight sets as we predicted. Last year in Shanghai, Shelton reached the quarterfinals, where he lost against Sebastian Korda in three tight sets.
According to the bookies, Sinner is the favorite in this matchup. Ben is a heavy server, and played solidly this whole week. We believe that he will win some free points off of his serve, and keep this match tight. Last year in Shanghai, Shelton upset Sinner, and we think that he will have a decent chance tomorrow as well.
That being said, Shelton covering the games handicap is a value bet.
