Cazaux – Humbert: 04.10.2024 09:30 CEST
H2H: first meeting
Arthur Cazaux has won three of his last five matches. Last week in Thailand, Cazaux played the challenger tournament where he lost in the quarterfinals against McCabe in three tight sets. Here in Shanghai, Cazaux won his opening match against Cilic in straight sets. Arthur had an excellent start to the season, but due to fitness problems, Cazaux lost his confidence and ranking. Right now, Arthur is looking to get back to the winning runs, to keep his top 100 status. He will make his debut in the Asian Swing tomorrow, as well as in the main-draw of a Masters tournament.
Ugo Humbert has won four of his last five matches. Last week in Tokyo, Humbert reached the final, where he lost against Fils in three tight sets. Humbert had a match point in the second set, and was close to winning the title. Despite being a top 20 player, Ugo has a poor record playing at the Masters level. Last year in Shanghai, Humbert reached the quarterfinals.
According to the bookies, Humbert is the favorite in this matchup. We believe that he will be emotionally exhausted from last week. On the other hand, Cazaux looked fit in his first round match against Cilic, and showed his best tennis. We believe that Arthur will keep this match tight, and even have a decent chance against Ugo.
That being said, Cazaux covering the games handicap is a value bet.

Seyboth Wild – Medvedev: 04.10.2024 12:30 CEST
H2H: 1-0
Thiago Seyboth Wild has won three of his last five matches. Last week in Lisbon, Thiago played in the challenger tournament, where he lost in the opening round against Rocha in straight sets. This was an unusual decision for the Brazilian who decided to play on the clay court, right before the Asian Swing. Here in Shanghai, Thiago defeated Evans in the opening round, after spending almost three hours on the court.
Daniil Medvedev has won three of his last five matches. Last week in Beijing, Medvedev reached the semifinals, where he lost against Alcaraz in straight sets as we predicted. Daniil has been struggling with his form recently, but his recent result in Beijing might give him some self-confidence back. Last year in Shanghai, Medvedev reached the third round, when he fell short against Korda in straight sets.
According to the bookies, Seyboth Wild is the huge underdog in this matchup, and we agree with that. Thiago arrived at the Shanghai Masters straight from the European clay court challenger tournaments. We believe that he will have no chance against Medvedev, who showed solid tennis last week in Beijing.
That being said, Medvedev covering the games handicap is a value bet.
