Day 4 at the ATP 250 in Santiago will see fast-rising Francisco Comesana challenge defending champion Sebastian Baez in an all-Argentine encounter for a place in the next round. Three other matches are also on the cards. Who will advance?
Head–to–Head: First Meeting
Mariano Navone enters the match with a balanced record, having won five and lost five matches this year, the same as Dzumhur, but the Argentine is the more accomplished player on this surface and will defeat the inconsistent Bosnian.
Prediction: Navone in 2
Head–to–Head: Coria 1 vs 2 Tabilo
Veteran Federico Coria was decisive in his 6-1, 6-0 win over Marcelo Tomas Barrios Vera in the first round, and he’ll have something to say against a familiar opponent.
The Chilean is a powerful player who can defeat anyone in his day. However, he hasn’t managed a win this season. Even though he plays in his home country, I don’t think the extra motivation and crowd support will win him over Coria’s experience and resilience, especially on clay courts.
Give me the Argentine to knock a second Chilean out in as many matches.
Prediction: Coria in 2

Head–to–Head: Monteiro 2 vs 1 Carabelli
Both players thrive on clay courts, which suit their baseline-oriented, topspin-heavy playing styles. Ugo Carabelli’s deep run in Rio last week and solid comeback win over home favourite and former champion Nicolas Jarry highlight his immense talent. Monteiro, however, brings experience and a decisive left-handed game that can disrupt opponents’ rhythm.
The Argentine is the more in-form player at the moment, and he will out-rally and out-muscle his Brazilian opponent to grind out a win that evens their head-to-head.
Prediction: Carabelli in 3
Head–to–Head: First Meeting
The match of the day sees two Argentines slug it out on the Santiago dirt for a place in the next round.
Baez is undisputably the more proficient and established player on this surface, and his retention of his Rio title last week is a testament to his prowess.
Comesana, on the other hand, achieved a significant milestone by reaching the semifinals of the Rio Open, notably defeating World No. 2 Alexander Zverev in the quarterfinals.
Despite Comesana’s explosive performances, Baez’s superior clay-court experience positions him rightly as the favourite in this matchup. The older Argentine bew away all opposition in Rio if he carries that form to Santiago, Comesana stands no chance.
Prediction: Baez in 3
