The stage is set for an entertaining day of semifinal action at the ATP Rotterdam Open with some of the world’s best set to take to the court in the Netherlands. As always, we here at LWOT will be offering our predictions for both semifinal matches as well as all the action in Abu Dhabi and Cluj-Napoca. But who will book their place in Sunday’s final in Rotterdam?
Head-to-head: first meeting
Alex de Minaur has been very dangerous at this venue for a few years now with quarterfinal showings in 2022-23 and then runner-up finish to Jannik Sinner last year. The Australian has only dropped serve once in the first three matches and the even-slower-than-usual conditions haven’t bothered him at all. Questions remain about whether or not he can do enough damage on the front foot against the best in the business, but that might not matter against Mattia Bellucci.
The Italian is enjoying a fantastic run at the ATP Rotterdam Open having started his week in the qualifying and gone on to beat second seed Daniil Medvedev and sixth seed Stefanos Tsitsipas. His 6-4 6-2 win over the Greek was particularly impressive. But he may need to find another gear again if he is to get the better of de Minaur. There is no doubting the Italian’s talent, but de Minaur’s game is well-suited to these conditions and he should be able to draw enough errors from Bellucci to win this match.
Prediction: de Minaur in 2

Head-to-head: Alcaraz 3-0 Hurkacz
Carlos Alcaraz hasn’t mastered indoor conditions yet, but the slow courts in Rotterdam have been more to his liking. He started his week by beating Botic van de Zandschulp but didn’t look entirely comfortable. However, his draw has been kind and the Spaniard has had the opportunity to find his rhythm. Neither Andrea Vavassori nor Pedro Martinez had the quality to put him under any sort of pessure as he reached the semifinals comfortably enough. But that might change now with him facing a much more dangerous opponent. Hubert Hurkacz will pose a sterner test and his serve should ensure this is a close match. But the Pole has his limitations from the baseline and Alcaraz should have enough to get the job done.
Prediction: Alcaraz in 3
