It promises to be an entertaining day of semifinal action at the ATP Marseille – Open 13 Provence, with two intriguing matches on the slate in the south of France. As ever, we here at LWOT will be offering our predictions for both matches, but who will book their spot in Sunday’s final?
Head-to-head: first meeting
This has the makings of a close content. Zizou Bergs is something of a surprise semifinalist this week with the Belgian battling his way through into the last four with surprising ease. Apart from a tight second set in his second round against Nuno Borges, he has looked ver sharp. But the going will get no easier for Bergs up agains the second seeded Ugo Humbert. The Frenchman has yet to drop a set and will no doubt have the home support behind him. That could prove to be a game changer. Both players serve well so this match will likely be decided by who can dictate from the baseline. Bergs has looked solid but Humbert is the higher-ranked player for a reason. The second seed has more experience and more options. It might be close, but it would be a real surprise were Bergs to pull off the upset.
Prediction: Humbert in 2
Head-to-head: Medvedev 1-0 Medjedovic
Hamad Medjedovic has played some excellent tennis to reach the semifinals, not least seeing off the in-form Daniel Altmaier to reach the semifinals. But this will be a real step up in the quality of opposition. Top seed Daniil Medvedev has made a sub par start to 2025, but he has looked to be back to his best (or at least something close to it) so far at the ATP Marseille – Open 13 Provence. After disappointingly early exits in Melbourne and Rotterdam, Medvedev has been solid so far in Marseille – beating both Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Jan-Lennard Struff in straight sets to reach the semifinals. If he can maintain that level, he should have the beating of Medjedovic.
Prediction: Medvedev in 2
