Need a new glute-focused exercise to add to your lower-body workout routine? Fitness pro Denise Austin has you covered. In her latest Instagram video tutorial, the star demonstrates one of her number-one moves for toning glutes and getting strong, lean legs.
“One of my favorite moves to shape, tone, and LIFT your booty for #MondayMotivation today! It’s a simple curtsy lunge. Give this a try for one minute, alternating sides, and make sure to keep the movement slow and controlled,” Austin captioned a recent video. “This movement is not about speed but about keeping the form correct. And if you want to add a little extra burn, you can hold dumbbells in each hand!”
In the video, Austin is ready to get moving in a blue workout tank top, matching leggings, and sneakers. Before demonstrating the move she emphasizes how the curtsy lunge is one of her “favorite exercises” for the “booty.”
Austin begins with her feet together and hands on her hips. Next, she brings one leg back and behind her body on a diagonal while slightly bending both knees to initiate the lunging motion. She continues to lunge until her back knee is parallel to the floor. Then, she says to “push yourself up” and return to the starting position before switching to the other leg.
“This will really reshape that bottom half,” Austin explains. “Make sure you keep your back strong and straight and keep those knees in a nice 90-degree angle,” she instructs, encouraging her viewers to perform the move for one minute.
As usual, fans loved Austin’s informative video and can’t wait to add the effective move to their workout routines. “Thank you 🙏🏼 This is really a great one👌,” one viewer wrote. “You’re a lifesaver!!! Just what I need to stay in shape while riding horses!!!” another commented.
Looking for more innovative exercises? Austin previously shared lunge tips for women over 50 while demonstrating a lunge variation designed for those with knee pain. In that Instagram video, Austin said that the move is great for those who “avoid lunges” due to “knee trouble,” and that it is “great for your entire thighs and booty!”
We can’t wait for the fitness pro’s next informative workout video. In the meantime, we’ll be revisiting more of our favorites below.
