The Ashland Times-Gazette will keep track of the high school golf action in Ashland County on both the boys and girls side throughout the postseason.
Ashland girls win sectional title
The Ashland girls golf team won the Divisional I sectional team title in the at Sycamore Springs Golf Course on Monday. The Arrows’ team score was 359, which was 10 strokes ahead of second-place Lexington’s 369.
For the Ohio Cardinal Conference champions, Kyah Huckleberry shot a team-low 86, as teammates Elleni Miller grabbed and Natalie Kohler grabbed an 88, Chloe Crunkilton had a 97 and Haylee Bond 107.
The Arrows will play next week in Bowling Green on October 2 at Stone Ridge Golf Club in the Division I Girls District Tournament.
Loudonville’s Judah Layton qualifies for district tournament
Loudonville’s Judah Layton was one of the top three individual qualifiers (top three individual qualifiers not on a qualifying team advance) to move along to next week’s district tournament. At Pleasant Valley Golf Course, Layton shot a 81, and joined Open Door Christian’s Will Giesbrecht (78) and Dalton’s Zach Brahler (79).
With the top three teams qualifying for next week’s district tournament, Hillsdale, Mapleton, Black River and Loudonville all missed advancing. Hillsdale finished seventh (361), Mapleton eighth (367), Loudonville 10th (418) and Black River 13th (445).
Both Crestview and New London girls teams missed qualifying for the district tournament on Wednesday at Valley View Golf Course. Crestview finished fifth shooting 430 and New London placed outside the top 14. New London’s Kendyl Moffit finished seventh in individual play, shooting a 91 and just missed a playoff to qualify for districts. Crestview’s Elyse Belcher was the highest placing individual for the Cougars, as she shot 103 for 18th place.
Ashland boys qualify for district tournament
At Sycamore Springs, the Ashland boys were amongst the top five teams to advance to the district tournament. The Arrows finished fifth overall (343) behind first-place Findlay (321), second-place Lexington (336), third-place Columbian (336) and fourth-place Lima Shawnee (340). Ashland’s Reed Emmons shot a team-low 78, while Ryan Eberling shot 83, Landon Dreibelbis 89, Ty Bates 93 and Ty Ellis 96.
Hillsdale’s Dally Meek advances to district tournament
At the Pines Golf Club in Orrville, Hillsdale’s Dally Meek advanced to next week’s district tournament by shooting an 83, which was tied for second overall with Keystone’s Sophia Clarico. Meek’s 83 was one stroke behind first-place winner in East Canton’s Mia Steigerwald’s 82.
