Fapla (Kailali), Jan 25: The Armed Police Force (APF) Club has won the Prime Minister’s Cup Women’s National T-20 Cricket Tournament.
The APF won the title by defeating home team Sudurpaschim Province by 9 wickets in the final match held Friday. The APF achieved the winning target of 68 runs in 12.5 overs with the loss of just one wicket.
APF’s Mamta Chaudhary scored an unbeaten 43 runs while captain Indu Verma scored 18 runs not out.
Earlier, Sudurpaschim, batting first after winning the toss at the Fapla Cricket Ground, was bundled out for 67 runs in 18.1 overs. Only Mamta Bohara, who scored 18 runs and captain Bindu Rawal 17 runs could reach double figures.
For the bowling side, APF’s Kavita Joshi took three wickets, while captain Indu Verma and Sabnam Rai took two wickets each. Kavita was named ‘Player of the Match’.
Meanwhile, APF captain Verma, who scored 172 runs and took five wickets throughout the tournament, was named ‘Player of the Series’.
Mamta Chaudhary, who scored 209 runs for APF, was named Best Batswoman, and Manisha Upadhyaya, who took 10 wickets for Bagmati, was named Best Bowler.
The Player of the Series received Rs 50,000, while the Best Batswomen and Best Bowler received Rs 25,000 each.
This is the second time that APF has won the title and in a row. Along with the title, APF received a prize of Rs. 500,000, while Sudurpaschim won the runner-up prize of Rs. 300,000.
A total of 12 teams participated in the competition, which began on January 14. The tournament was organized by the Cricket Association of Nepal and managed by Sudurpaschim Provincial Cricket Association.
The Cricket Association of Nepal President Chatur Bahadur Chand, Vice President Roshan Singh, Member Secretary of the Sudurpaschim Sports Council Deepak Bahadur Singh, President of the Sudurpaschim Provincial Cricket Association Basudev Joshi and others gave away prizes and certificates to the winners.
