GUILFORD, CT — Anytime Fitness, the health club chain with 23 locations around Connecticut and thousands across the globe, is “coming soon” to Guilford and 891 Post Road, according to the business’s website.
CT Insider reported late last week that the gym is planning to open by summer 2025 at the former site of Sweet Frog across from Shoreline Plaza.
Owners of The Place restaurant, which is also on the same property, were listed as the applicants for the Anytime Fitness proposal.
The Guilford Planning and Zoning Commission approved plans for the gym on Sept. 4. The project includes demolishing the existing building on the property, and constructing a larger, two-story gym building one foot above the flood elevation, according to P&Z documents.
The webpage for the Guilford location says there will be 24-hour access to the gym. Anytime Fitness says it offers 24/7 access to more than 5,100 workout locations worldwide.
Every member who signs up receives a free, personalized fitness plan, and members continue to receive personalized support inside the gym from professional coaches, the Anytime Fitness website notes.
There are also Anytime Fitness locations in Canton; Colchester; Cromwell; Deep River; Ellington; Farmington; Glastonbury; Granby; Madison; Manchester; Newington; Old Saybrook; Putnam; Salem; Southington; Stamford; Uncasville; West Hartford; Wilton; and Windsor.
