Here we grow again
It is no surprise that Brunswick County municipalities are itching to slow down and grab the horns on development. However, some towns are looking at how they can welcome new development while protecting the environment.
The town of St. James could welcome a chain grocery store and residential development in the near future. Find out where it will be and what could come.
Though towns may be slowing down, the North Carolina Department of Transportation is speeding up. The N.C. 211 widening project is over 50% complete and full steam ahead. Read more.

Owners of the Brierwood Golf Club in Shallotte have plans to reopen the golf course. Plans include a decrease in holes and new facilities.
Brunswick County boards are looking at what their communities need, such as senior housing.
It’s the beginning of budget season. County and municipality boards are preparing financial restrictions, community goals and doable projects for the upcoming year, starting July 1.
As boards make tough decisions on how to spend money, property tax rates are also being looked at as a way to balance budgets in deficit.
