Alexander Zverev is safely into the last 16 of the Paris Masters after his victory over Tallon Griekspoor.
Zverev secured a season-best 61st win at the Vienna Open, and he has now taken that momentum into Paris.
It was an emotional tournament last time out, with Zverev saying farewell to Dominic Thiem, who has just retired from tennis.
Zverev is now the third seed at the latest Masters 1,000 event, and kicked off his tournament with a win in the second round.
The German overcame Griekspoor 7-6(7-2), 6-3 for his fourth victory over the Dutchman this season, and fifth in succession.
The former now faces Arthur Fils in the round of 16, with Zverev feeling comfortable on the Paris Masters courts.
“Very fast court,” he said, as quoted by the ATP Tour website. “I think one of the fastest courts I’ve ever played on.

“I had to find my rhythm in the beginning but happy to come through in the end. Once I find my rhythm I love fast courts because it fits my game.”
The Paris Masters courts have come under plenty of analysis this week, with several players noticing just how quick they are.
It doesn’t suit everyone, but Zverev seems to be at home in the French capital, which could help him go all the way.

He is in fine company with his latest win, having become the fourth player to reach the last 16 of all nine ATP Masters 1,000 events in one season.
The world number three has already secured his spot at the ATP Finals, but another title would do his confidence the world of good ahead of Turin.
Zverev has won one of his 22 tour-level titles this season, with his aims in Paris made easier by the withdrawal of Jannik Sinner.
But overcoming Fils will not be an easy task, with the Frenchman set to receive huge support from the home crowd.
