Alejandro Davidovich Fokina vs Matteo Arnaldi Prediction
Alejandro Davidovich Fokina is coming off an outstanding win over top seed Taylor Fritz as he won their quarter-final tie 7-6 7-6 to eliminate the defending champion. He generated three break points and took all three in a highly efficient performance but a quality one nonetheless.
He faces another tough assignment in the semis as he meets Italy’s Matteo Arnaldi – the man who eliminated him in Dallas last week.
Arnaldi is playing well this week having knocked out Learner Tien and then Brandon Nakashima 7-6 6-4 on Friday.
He comes into this match knowing he beat Davidovich Fokina in the round of 16 in Dallas last week. He completely dominated that match from start to finish as he ran out 6-1 6-3 winner and he will fancy his chances of following that up here.
The key in that match was the sheer number of break points he generated as he was comfortable returning the Spaniard’s serve. It is hard to see what Davidovich Fokina can do differently here and we favour Arnaldi to make it through to the final.
