Alabama football landed offensive line help via the transfer portal on Friday. Arkel Anugwom, who previously played at Ball State, announced his commitment to the Crimson Tide.
Anugwom started one game for Ball State this past season, at left tackle. According to Pro Football Focus, he played 101 snaps in four games.
He did not play football until midway through high school, after moving to Tennessee from Nigeria. Anugwom was not rated when he left high school.
The 6-foot-6, 325-pound Anugwom will likely begin as a depth piece at Alabama. The Crimson Tide is set to return much of its tackle talent from 2024, including Kadyn Proctor, Elijah Pritchett and Wilson Formby.
Anugwom became the sixth scholarship player Alabama has locked up via the transfer portal since the 2024 regular season wrapped up. He’s the second offensive lineman to join up, following Kam Dewberry, who signed with Alabama from Texas A&M.
In addition to those two lineman, the group of portal additions includes wide receiver Isaiah Horton from Miami, defensive lineman Kelby Collins from Florida, linebacker Nikhai Hill-Green from Colorado and cornerback Cam Calhoun from Utah.
Alabama players are currently able to enter the transfer portal. The Crimson Tide roster received a five-day entry window when its 2024 season came to an end Tuesday, with a loss to Michigan in the ReliaQuest Bowl.
