Alabama basketball guard Latrell Wrightsell suffered what appeared to be a serious leg injury during the second half of the Crimson Tide’s 83-81 loss to Oregon in the championship game of the Players Era Festival on Saturday night in Las Vegas.
Wrightsell, who came into Saturday averaging 11.7 points per game this season, was helped from the court after suffering a non-contact injury while chasing an offensive rebound with 18:51 left in the second half. He was unable to put weight on his left leg and was grabbing at the back of his ankle, according to multiple reports.
Wrightsell was officially listed as “doubtful” to return, per CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein. Late in the second half, he returned to the bench in street clothes with his left lower leg in a protective boot.
The 6-foot-3 Wrightsell, a fifth-year senior, is in his second season at Alabama after transferring in from Cal State-Fullerton. He played in 31 games, starting 12, and averaged 8.9 points per game for the Crimson Tide’s Final Four team in 2023-24.
Alabama (6-2) travels to North Carolina on Wednesday.
