After Snub, Kyrie Irving Gets Tabbed For NBA All-Star Game

After initially getting snubbed for the NBA All-Star Game, Kyrie Irving has now been tabbed as a replacement.

The West Orange, N.J. native was selected by NBA Commissioner Adam Silver to replace his injured Dallas Mavericks’ teammate Anthony Davis in Sunday night’s game at the Chase Center in San Francisco.

Trae Young – whom many felt was also initially snubbed – was earlier chosen to replace Giannis Antetokounmpo.

When the All-Star selections were first announced at the end of last month both Irving and Young were left out – with many considering them among the top snubs.

Young wrote on social media Jan. 30: “It’s no longer getting “snubbed” it’s getting “Traed” at this point Sorry to my fans.. it’ll change eventually! All right, talk soon!”

This is the ninth NBA All-Star selection for Irving, who is averaging 24.1 points, 4.6 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game while shooting 47.5% from the field, 40.7% from three-point range and 90.1% from the free throw line in 42 games this season.

Davis is unable to participate in the NBA All-Star Game because of a left adductor strain. The 10-time NBA All-Star was drafted onto Team Shaq by its general manager, TNT analyst Shaquille O’Neal.

Young has earned his fourth NBA All-Star selection. He is averaging 23.5 points and an NBA-leading 11.4 assists per game in 49 games this season.

Antetokounmpo is unable to participate in the NBA All-Star Game because of a left calf strain. The nine-time NBA All-Star was drafted onto Team Chuck by its general manager, TNT analyst Charles Barkley.
