EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) – Last week, we took a closer look at USI’s men’s and women’s basketball teams, and this week, the Evansville Aces squads began their practices.
Over at the Carson Center, the men’s team got their first official practice underway. Entering Head Coach David Ragland’s third year at the helm, he’s got a roster full of guys he has brought in. After steady improvement last year, Now, they focus on what direction they want to go. They already have ideas of how they want this team to look based off of their final game last year.
“We finished off the season really well last year, we beat Illinois State in the MVC. Just taking that game, we watched some clips today, just taking that game, the hustle we played with, the discipline we played with, and starting the new year with that,” said Sophomore Forward Joshua Hughes.
With a full squad assembled all by Coach David Ragland, this team has that experience from last year, and are ready to put that towards a stronger 2024-25 season.
“Having ten guys return that understand our culture, understand our language, understand our drill, the level that we expect them to compete at, it’s just refreshing, but it’s exciting. Today was extremely competitive, but we took advantage of the day and got better,” said Head Coach David Ragland.
The Aces open the season on October 26 against Tiffin.
