MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) – On Thursday Academy Sports + Outdoors donated a five-thousand-dollar shopping spree to the Boys and Girls club of East Mississippi.

On Monday, the new academy sports store opened up here in Meridian and today they wanted to surprise the kids of the Boys and Girls Club with a shopping spree.

Only 20 kids were selected but they had a great time as they came into the store ready to shop, and academy sports was excited to see their faces.

“Academy is really excited to give back a $5000 shopping spree to the boys and Girls Club of East Mississippi. We basically give 20 kids $200.00 and we set them loose in the store and they get to shop for shoes, clothes, gear, whatever they may need. It’s amazing and the kids don’t know that they’re getting a surprise gift card and shopping spree when they come in, so seeing their faces light up as soon as we tell them the news and. How much fun they have getting to purchase whatever they want. It’s just it’s amazing,” said Senior PR specialist Grace Carter.
