New York Yankees star Aaron Judge and Los Angeles Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani are both coming off fantastic seasons. Both were vital for their team’s success this past season while being the last two teams standing.
Judge and Ohtani were neck and neck when it came to offensive statistics. However, it would be the two-way phenom that edged out the Yankees‘ captain in the AP Male Athlete of the Year Award.

Ohtani has now won the award for the third time. The slugger is tied with NBA legend Michael Jordan and is one win away from tying the likes of LeBron James, Tiger Woods, and Lance Armstrong for most wins all-time.
Plenty of baseball fans did not agree with the decision here. They believe it was Judge who should have been given the award, not Ohtani.
“Aaron Judge continuously robbed by this gambling addicted fraud” one fan posted.
“Wasn’t even the best athlete in his sport but whatever” said another.
“Love him but this is meat riding at its finest” said another.
Fans feel that Judge was completely robbed of the award this year. They do not that Ohtani had the better of the season between the two and let their opinions be heard on social media.
“If he pitched this year I’d get it. But he wasn’t better then judge at any point this year and that includes the postseason despite judges struggles. What a joke” said another.
“Judge is better lol what a joke” said another.
“Crazy how the best player this year didn’t win” said another.
Judge’s only AP Male Athlete of the Year Award came back in 2022. This was the same year where he broke Roger Maris’ single-season home run record.
Shohei Ohtani and Aaron Judge stole the show in 2024
You could not discuss the 2024 season without mentioning Shohei Ohtani or Aaron Judge. They were the talk of the sport as they both put up impressive numbers at the plate.
For Judge, he is looking to continue his prowess into 2025, while Ohtani will be returning to the mound. It will be interesting to see how the two-way phenom looks on the mound after taking the year off. Will he return to form or will he have some trouble knocking the rust off?
