Lorenzo Reyes is back with his best bet for the AFC and NFC championship games. He also threw in a couple of bonus player prop bets for those interested.
Aaron Rodgers might not be discount double checking out of the NFL just yet.
The Jets quarterback has been at the center of the news cycle for years. From darkness retreats to taking stances on politics, health and more, Rodgers knows how to capture everyone’s attention.
Retirement rumors are the theme of Rodgers’ offseason this year. Rodgers’ expressed that the final decision would probably come down to whether the new head coach and general manager want him back. While he could retire anyway, being unwanted would make that decision a little easier.
After the Jets hired Aaron Glenn as head coach and Darren Mougey for general manager, it looks like the new regime might look to begin their tenure with the 41-year-old under center.
“Aaron Glenn, to my understanding, is open to it,” Rapoport said about Rodgers’ potential return to the Jets. “Rodgers as well. Expect those conversations to ramp up in the coming weeks.”
Rodgers is only under contract for one more season with the Jets. He carries a $23.5 million cap hit, according to Spotrac.
The quarterback started all 17 games for the Jets, posting a 5-12 record. He completed 63% of passes and threw for 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.
It was a fine statistical season for Rodgers, who was coming back off a torn Achilles. However, he didn’t appear to have that same ability to take over a game this year, routinely falling short when trailing late with an opportunity to tie or take the lead.
New York traded for his friend, Davante Adams, which was designed to boost the offense that struggled early on.
Every button the Jets have pushed since acquiring Rodgers has seemingly been the wrong one. Now it’s up to the new staff to correct previous mistakes and avoid making new ones.
