BILOXI, Miss. (WLOX)— After what seems to be a lengthy process at the A.J. Holloway Complex, everything is coming to completion, as kids are participating in softball and baseball practice.
In March, the Biloxi youth and baseball team had to relocate to a different location in the Biloxi area due to renovations.
Those renovations included new LED lights, something the city says is worth highlighting.
“As you can see, we have some new artificial turf installed on all the infields and new grass out there on the outfield and we’re itching ready to go,” Jamie Lee said.
Improvements came to the football, soccer, little league and softball complexes. Some added bonuses include fresh grass in the outfield.
The assistant director for Biloxi’s Parks and Recreation Department says they made sure the kids had something to work with.
“We just knew there was a need for it. This is a pretty popular place for youth sports, and we just want to enhance and provide a better service out here for them,” Lee said. “Visually, you can see the difference out here. We haven’t had a lot of foot traffic on it yet other than us, so we’re excited for the kids to actually get on it.”
While coaches say they were excited about the turnout for tryouts, the city says they will be holding an opening ceremony event for the complex next month.
